Dunedin Rail Station underwent a three stage refurbishment. The work included faithfully restoring the interior and completely re surfacing and upgrading the exterior. The building is located near the heart of the city on Anzac Avenue. A new Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm system were installed with special care taken to ensure all aesthetic concerns were addressed.

Fire Protection Engineers was engaged as a sub-consultant to design and oversee the systems and commissioning work. The project was provided by three different main contractors and three different fire protection subcontractors over a two and half year period. The staging presented special issues where agreement was negotiated with the Fire Service and The Insurance Council on the accepted methodology.
